Today's journey home was as arduous as trying to eat udon noodles in soup with chopsticks (yes, even I have trouble sometimes). Waited over 45 minutes for the darn 16/16a (thanks, Dublin Bus).
My brother was kind enough to inform me that the LUAS was in a crash and the red line was offline (for my leg of the journey home). But as I walked down to Jervis St from the Southside, I only then realised that the LUAS was out of commission. I know, I know, my brother called me about it, but I was on auto-pilot, and just ended at the LUAS stop. Anyhoo, I walked home, I did not want to get the 'lovely' Dublin Bus (see above). So after 2 hours, I made it home, quite a trip considering that it normally takes at least 1 hour for me to get from Rathfarnham to Parkgate St with our ever so reliable Dub transport. Again, I would like to thank Dublin Bus for a fantastic job of not doing their job properly.
(Hear it comes....) Argh, I hate skangers so much. Typical journey home on the LUAS, ok trying to get to Heuston Station to meet with Mick (who is off to PyPy Sprint in UL this weekend). And because of the lousy messers, the LUAS was stuck at Smithfield and the driver cannot get the LUAS going. Argh... so I got off and walked (not that far, but was hoping to catch my fiancé before he left). Anyhoo, the LUAS went passed me at Museum stop, empty of passengers.
*End rant
So after a successful day at work, I decided to go an watch A Scanner Darkly and I enjoyed it. But I came across a few things that made Monday more enjoyable...
And something that maybe cool to use (unlike the other HTML-based word processors... Google's writely. (And no, it's not pink!)
Some stuff I came across and did not get around to comment about it...
I am happy that Sun still has some humour. Their little stunt did not bode too well with HP. I think my last memory of some Sun-related humour was back in Oct 2005, when Sun and Google announced they were going to work together. The look on Scott's face when he recieved the Google Lava lamp, and Google's Schmidt received and Opteron and Staroffice 8. The the HP one is class. I loved it. Good one, Sun.
Well, I got my own Python Ireland Tshirt.
I'll be sporting this on Monday.
Again, Dell has issued a recall. Scary that I use to have an Inspiron, and my family members have as well, hope we are not of the small few who has the faulty battery. More info : https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/Default.aspx.
So, entertaining as it was to run back and forth to see what was happening in the keynote update on the IRC on Mick's MBP, with intervals of excited outburst from Mick when I am in the kitchen... Apple just released one heck of a monster. Plus a recovery feature called Time Machine. And Spaces... something that I missed coming from Linux/Unix background. And tabs in ichat, woohoo! Now it's more usable. Don't really care about fancy looking email messages. Create your own DB widgets, sweet. But since Apple welcomes folks to upload their widgets, imagine how many there would be on top of the 25,000 that are already there! Heh, tis sweet though. And their 30" display's price has been slightly reduced.... hmmm... so tempting.
