Fried Coke

Bleurgh... it's true. The Americans have done it again, Fried Coke. And they are trying to cut down on the sugar as well. Even though it's

[...] a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.

And this just reminds me of the Daily Show, where Jon Stewart picked up on chocolate chip pancake wrapped sausage on a stick, and you wonder why they are the forerunners for obesity in the world.

The thing I learnt from visiting my fiancé's mom in Orlando was, that the American's love their corn syrup. Whenever we go food shopping, she found it so hard to find something without the dreaded corn syrup, even in the bread!

Grumpy mornings

I am not known to be a morning person. Really? Waking up at 4am to get to the airport took the biscuit, according to my fiancé and cousin. Well, saw an article from Indo that suggests that women are really grumpy in the morning and lasts for 3-4 hours after that. So much for my Chinese bakery idea, waking up at 4am to start baking would make me a little grumpy.

Google acquires YouTube

Mick did not believe me last week, when I mentioned that Google would be buying YouTube. Well, Google did buy YouTube. I think buying out the competitor and putting Yahoo at a big disadvantage. And it's interesting to see how other bloggers react to this news.

Smart-*ss

Heh, just saw an ad in yesterday's paper from magnet.ie trying to grab some of the SMART's now broadbandless customers... I like this part:

Your Broadband Supplier is not responding, Would you like to: Get unreliable high contention bogband [...]

So cheeky.

Here's something cute, a hamster that runs as fast as you type.

And definately not for the faint-hearted!

Wii Pre-ordered

So we have pre-ordered our Wii last Saturday, despite the €20 deposit , which is to cover the cost of the VAT! Hmm, apart from that, we have pre-ordered the Wii. So excited. The GAME's sales assistant assured us all (us and other customers instore), that there are enough Wiis to go around. We were a bit concerned that it does not secure us a Wii. At least it's better than some folks in US, GameStop not taking any pre-orders.

SMART gone, gone, gone

Eircom pulls the plug on Smart customers yesterday. Eircom's plan worked. Smart's financial difficulties is their own fault as well, all those fancy ads. But it's still so annoying that Eircom still rules the roost in the telecoms sector. NTL's broadband division is not too hot either. Well, at least I am lucky enough not to use Smart a year ago.
