Good for reference, seems to have alot of ideas here - http://www.s7u.co.uk/.
Ok, I'll have to find the original post for using lists to create menus.. but here is an example of use of css menu tricks - THE IMPOSTER ::: Simple clean CSS rollover menus with lists.
Ok, this is for me to search for, when I am stuck on Flash (and other Macromedia products), and get some handy tips and news - mesh on mx. Many, many weblogs...
Hmm, the mains ones would be:
- Macromedia Flash Developer Center
- Macromedia Flash Developer Center : 3D/Animation Articles
- ActionScript for Flash MX: The Definitive Guide : Events and events handling
And last but not least... they added search plugins for firefox, yay! Very handy indeed! mesh on mx - FireFox Flash and Macromedia Search Plugins
Mught want to try my hand at PHP.. so I am now building up links to helpful sites on PHP....
First on the list: www.phpscripts.com/
...http://del.icio.us/jennycheuk ( many useful things to be found at http://del.icio.us). RSS feeds available on all the contributers.
Text style sampler is rather nifty to try out the fonts on the page. It's all dynamic. You can try out the fonts size, the widths...type.
Anyway you want 3 column layout in CSS... Well as many as the options allow to preview. But back up a level and NN4-compatible XHTML/CSS 3 column layouts can be browsed.
Just for my self-reference... ^.^
Just a link for my reference... for all the nice smilies. Anyone know of more places to get nice smilies. (Apart from phpbb for my messageboard, OR design them myself...).. It's pretty hard to look for a decent site with nice avatars and smilies, ano not have rude stuff everywhere.... (you know who you are.. heh)
Just keeping this link for self reference as this is a good insight on how people perceive usability and how we perceive usability. Here is the article... The Reg - Usability - is it what we think it is?
This is cool. And looks simple, just click on the colours and watch the simple colour scheme combinations at pixy.cz - Color scheme
This must be all over the place by now, but I don't care, I am keeping this for my own reference. :D "Listutorial takes you through the basics of building CSS lists with "background images for bullets" and "simple rollovers" with a few variations along the way."
Boxes and Arrows: Natural Selections: Colors Found in Nature and Interface Design
(Just marking this, useful for referencing for myself, as I keep on losing good sites)
Just adding in a blog entry for another design blog I came across - TIG's Design Ramblings.
Considering that I and doing a usablity course, if I can find as many opinions from different design sites, it will help me alot. :P
My BF sent me on this link for The Zen Garden... the ultimate in using css design... well, it's cool, and gives you a taste of the more fancier advance things you can do with css... (Wonder what Neil thinks?)
Have a look and judge for yourself...GoodLogo!com - Top 250 - Category: Computers (1-5)
I like this site, as it shows general day-to-day logs, and shows the design cases for some of these. You can even submit a logo you like and see how it will get rated... Hmm, will I send in the new Java logo? Can't seem to find a decent one online, although, it does not look as nice the the old logo. (And what is Christina Aguilera doing promoting mobility and Java???)
Reg will be picking it up the new logo soon, I'll be on the look out...
Good site to refer to. Some great examples to show people how you can do complicated layouts with CSS (see no tables, Neil! ;P)
CSS Zen Garden
Find the most complementry colours, the harmonial colours, you name it, for you web page. I have found mine, now to get a design down on paper (and online!) - http://www.easyrgb.com (Thanks Mick for that link.)
Digital colouring tutorial from Steel Dolphin Creative Graphic Design. Got this link from machall.com, actaully, my BF saw it in machall and then told me about it. Thanx Mick! Cool link...
A colour blender form meyerweb.com - Color Blender
And a handy "Web Safe Colors Chart(the 216 Color Palette).
'kay, some funky stuff you can do just for fun. The following site shows you how to bring up pretty titles when you have a mouseover a link. It's transparent and everything. Just a bit of CSS and some javascripting - http://www.kryogenix.org/code/browser/nicetitle/
Here is a small site, with some articles on Design for your website, but more business oriented I suppose - Sensible Internet Design Journal
My BF maybe interested in this article. A Comparison of Popular Online Fonts: Which Size and Type is Best?
