[My Own Stuff] Shush! No talking in lifts

From Mainichi Daily News, Stickers in a Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry elevator urge people to be quiet

I wished they had these stickers on the lifts for that one time, when we were in the lift coming back from one of our numerous trips to town in Mandarin Oriental in Tokyo, that these western businessmen just shut up! The hotel staff (2 in total) with 2 (or was it 3) businessmen were being polite, did not talk much. Just asked about the trip getting there. The businessmen went into some ramble about some acquistion of some land to develop hotels, but it was the boisterous businessman's attitude that really bugged me. We were in a damn lift. It felt longer than it should (ground floor to 38th floor). How does the Japanese staff handle all this bravado? Mick and I just don't talk, it was just curteous. Another thing I noticed, rich Japanese people, Japanese men don't talk on the lift. So what's the with attitude from westerners?

So when in lift in highrise buildings, please make it bearable during that time to keep your business mouths shut!
