You know, I have always commented that cakes in Hong Kong are nicer than over here, and I have some pics as well from my recent trip to Hong Kong in July.
My aunt brought some fruit to a family dinner, and there is particulare one which looks wierd, but tastes nice. You just eat the white fleshy part, spit out the seeds, and careful not to get the red spongey skin on my clothes as they stain.
And Hong Kong is still as stifling as ever, here is a moody pic:

Just saw in the news that immigration cards are to be carried by non-EU immigrants residing in Ireland. This is to do with the new immigration bill that is being prepared by the government.
It's not much, should really put in a jaiil sentence as well. These sp@m are just clogging up everything... and are just an annoyance.

As I announced in the IBC forum that the Irish Born Chinese Forum now has its own Atom feed.
I finally got around to write it over the weekend, with some tweaks from Mick. And yes, it's written in Python using SQLAlchemy and ElementTree.
You can find the button on the right-hand side of the IBC blog (a bright orange and grey button). Just right-click and copy the link and subscribe to it in your favourite feed reader.
It gets updated every few minutes or so, so it does not bombard my sql server. So be patient, it will update.
Final update, it all works now. Woohoo! Sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused.
Dreamhost got back to me about the links that are now working:

database and flushed our nameservers, so they should start working for
you as soon as your isp's nameservers clear their caches.

Well there you have it, apparently a friend of mine who is in China at the moment cannot access my IBC site. He thinks it's blocked by Chinese authorities. Hmmm, annoying, I think it's my references to BBC news items and some other blocked sites that might have triggered it. Or, it could be a glitch. Ho-hum...
Update: Just got informed that it works again. Woohoo.
With the recent scare, airlines have now adapted new security measures. So no hand luggage apart from the following in plastic bags:
I wonder if my dad can bring is medicated spray for his heart condition, it's for emergency use only. Probably need a doctor's letter with it or something. But I cannot imagine anyone would like to have their laptops placed in the cargo hold! Imagine all the baggage handlers, chucking the bags all over the place! I'm glad we came back from Stockholm this past Monday, Dublin airport is mad. Mick was carrying a laptop. And we had laptops to/from HK as well 2 months ago. This is pure insane. Imagine your typical business/first class traveller be might annoyed if they cannot carry on any of their equipment, especially their laptop. Boy, long journeys will be so not fun now without my DS or iPod.
