Mooncake madness

Eating 18 mooncakes in 90 seconds it's just sick! *eep*

And for more health concious people, more marketing ploys to get people to eat mooncakes.

Mid-Autumn Festival 2004

It's approaching, when? On the 28th Sept. Over here we just eat (well, I don't really) mooncake. The Mid-Autumn Festival is not as big here as Far East. There's festivals going on in Hong Kong.

I remember when I was younger, my mom bought me some lanterns (battery-operated ones), not sure was it from London Chinatown or from Hong Kong. Hmm, but just read this on the HK gov site about dangerous toy lanterns warning.

But year in year out, not much else goes on here in Ireland.

Chinese Leaf Mooncake

Now, I don't really eat mooncakes (very filling and not very good for you, but for most it's a once a year thing anyway). But everytime I've been coming home, mom has been asking if I want some, one without the yolk (brought back by my cous), and mom showed me these gold leafed mooncakes. I really did not believe her when she said gold leaf on a moon cake! Well, now I know. ;)

Bi-lingual stories

Cool! Bi-lingual stories at sohu.com is a type of thing I would like on this site. Although I cannot read Chinese, so it's annoying (for me) to click on the link to see what it's about. But other than that I think it is rather cool.

Purity of Chinese language

China Daily's article on Purity of Chinese language debated raise an interesting point. But as I read through it, it's just makes me feel like I started in a new company and I get subjected to a litany of acrynoms like FYI (For Your Information, simple one that)... It's still one of the hardest languages to learn to write (read and speech follows that, not in that order by the way).

Not the HK I like

Well, I can confirm my friend who came to HK with me did no get accosted at Golden Chicken Mile, heh.. cos he was staying at a hotel further in the city. (To his disappointment... heehee) *wink* But sure do agree with being hasseled to buy "new watch"... I nearly punched one out in Tsim Sha Tsui, and one gave out to me for cursing at him. *argh*

Notice something a whee bit different?

To your right, you notice that I removed the calendar (sort of a waste of space, and not very useful). Then I moved the button of the search section... and a new section that lists out the last 10 posts on IBC message board.

But not just Britain, but Denmark and Ireland are excluded from the Chinese government deal with EU allowing Chinese tour groups to visit the 25 EU member states. The London Sheraton Park Tower has added Chinese channels to their hotel rooms.
